History of the Spirit Airlines
The Spirit Airlines commenced its services under the name, Clippert Trucking Company in the year 1964. In 1974, it assumed the name of Ground Air Transfer, Inc. It started providing airline services since 1983. The airline got its current name, Spirit Airlines in 1992, on 29th May.
Initially, the headquarters of Spirit Airlines were in Michigan’s Eastpointe in the Metro Detroit area. The company wanted to relocate the headquarters and options were Detroit, New Jersey, Atlantic City and Michigan. In 1999, in the month of November, Spirit Airlines shifted its headquarters to Florida’s Miramar, that is, in the metropolitan area of Miami.
